Bummed is a female-founded and women-led company. Thank you for trusting us with your health. Here’s a little more about us and why we started Bummed.
Dr. Carmen Fong, Chief Medical Officer
Our medical team is led by Dr. Carmen Fong. Dr. Fong is a colorectal surgeon who is double-board certified in General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for her compassionate care. After completing her residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, she further specialized with a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital/NYU Winthrop.
Dr. Fong sees thousands of patients a year through her clinical practice. She was excited about opening up care for many more patients through a digital health platform, especially for pregnant people, who are often overlooked when it comes to telehealth.
Carmen has an active social media following, where she shares her knowledge on all things butts and gutts.
Jenny Dwork, Co-Founder & CEO
Jenny Dwork is passionate about building mission-driven brands, especially when it comes to healthcare. After leading marketing at the two largest women’s sexual and reproductive telehealth companies, Jenny saw firsthand the power of digital health to increase access to highly stigmatized areas of care.
Having personally struggled with the pain and shame of hemorrhoids and anal fissures, she saw an opportunity to use telehealth to change the narrative around anorectal health. Jenny is particularly excited about being able to help pregnant and postpartum women, who are too often ignored when it comes to their pain.
Rebecca Monahan, Co-Founder & COO
Rebecca is a digital‑health operator turned founder. Overseeing clinical operations at a leading telehealth company, she scaled the platform from start‑up to 1 million‑plus patients and launched more than 30 treatments, including highly stigmatized services in women’s health such as medical abortion and STI care, by making access and empathy the default.
Motivated by her mother’s late‑diagnosed colon cancer, Rebecca now focuses on destigmatizing and educating around anorectal health. Leveraging six years of experience in telehealth workflows, clinician training, and custom‑compounded medications, she co‑founded Bummed to deliver swift, science‑backed relief for the 75 % of Americans who silently struggle with hemorrhoids and related conditions.
